Almost California
This lovely young fawn turned up in the garden of our AirBnB while we were having dinner last night (the picture came out OK given that it was taken through a window with a mozzie screen)
Kate's stuff was indeed tasty, and a very nice lady as well
The bridge at Gold Beach
That boat will be fine... just needs pumping out and a lick of paint 😉
Beach bonfire anyone??
The coast near Brookings
Another day almost entirely on 101 but things are definitely changing for the better. There are more trucks now but less traffic in general - we actually get quiet spells where you can hear the wildlife in-between the noise of vehicles. Also, for the most part, the shoulder has been wider, sometimes as wide as the shoulder on a UK motorway.
There seem to be loaded logging trucks heading in both directions, which leads me to wonder why the people with logs in the north don't do a deal with the people with logs in the south and simply swap contracts, thereby cutting out all that transportation cost 😉.
We have seen a few more touring cyclists today. One bloke was so loaded up I think he must have been moving house by bike - he had big panniers front and back, a huge pile of stuff on top of his rack and a fully loaded trailer towing behind!
Today we have pedalled 138km with 1384m of ascent, bringing us to Brookings. When we leave here in the morning we have about 10km to go to the Oregon / California state border.
